Bartel joins Essentia Health St. Joseph's Brainerd Clinic

Dr. Annette Bartel, a podiatrist, has joined the Essentia Health St. Joseph's-Brainerd Clinic in Brainerd.

As part of the podiatry team, Bartel will provide treatment for a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, from diagnosing and treating ingrown toenails and bunions to flat foot correction, Achilles tendon repair and orthotics management.

Bartel earned a doctor of podiatric medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa. She completed a podiatric residency at the Gundersen Medical Foundation in La Crosse, Wis.

Allene launches social travel club

NISSWA-After three years of traveling around the world, Claudia Allene, a Gull Lake resident and former realtor, recently launched ''Claudia Around The World Tours.'

This new specialized tour company focuses on small group travel to many of the world's most exotic destinations. Allene designs and accompanies special interest groups to any dream destination.

The company's is hosting social event from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 14 on Gull Lake Drive just off Highway 371 in Nisswa. Gary Payne, sociology professor at Central Lakes College, will be the key speaker talking about "Traveling Safe, Smart & Open."

Horizon Health to host community picnic

PIERZ-Horizon Health Inc, is hosting an open house community picnic with food and live music and networking from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.

Lunch will be served beginning at 11 a.m. The event, to thank community support for Horizon Health for the past 25 years, is planned at Horizon Health's corporate office, 26814 143rd St., Pierz.

From 10-11 a.m. Party Line will be broadcasting live from Horizon Health. From 11-1 p.m. Slewfoot Family Band performs.
