RiverWood Bank announces new hires/promotion
BAXTER-RiverWood Bank announced the hiring of two employees for its new location in Baxter along with the promotion of Dan Nelson to chief financial officer.
Josh Rardin, a Brainerd area native and graduate of North Dakota State University, was hired as a credit analyst. Rardin previously worked for the North Dakota Department of Financial Institutions as a bank examiner. Reed Nelson, a graduate of St. Cloud State University, was hired as a personal banker. Nelson previously worked in sales and marketing for Enterprise Rent-A- Car and ATS Logistics in St. Cloud.
Nelson was promoted to the bank's chief financial officer. Nelson, who also grew up in the Brainerd area, has been employed by RiverWood Bank since 2005 when he graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

CliftonLarsonAllen announces promotions, new hires
CliftonLarsonAllen recently announced promotions and hires in Brainerd.
Roy Hurin, certified public accountant, was promoted to signing director. Hurin has over 23 years of experience in public accounting and specializes in health care in the areas of physicians and medical groups with an emphasis in orthopedics, multi-specialty groups, and surgical specialties. Hurin's work includes financial statement auditing, reviews, and compilations, retirement plan consulting, including maximizing contributions, completion of physician and medical practice buy-ins and buyouts. Hurin's experience also includes physician compensation, assisting and advising on practice mergers / acquisitions including financing, preparation of financial analysis of practices, benchmarking, management reporting along with corporate/partnership taxation and individual tax returns.
New staff members include Katie Haakonson, CPA, and Joe Erickson, to Accountant II positions. Haakonson and Erickson provide accounting functions for clients, including payroll, financial statements, bank reconciliations, sales tax returns and more.
Beth Goerges was hired as an associate in the commercial services department. She performs a variety of assurance and tax services for clients including detail work of audits and prepares tax returns.

Chamber Business Academy series looks at brand growth
Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce presents How Brands Grow as part of its Business Academy series.

The event is 9-10:30 a.m. March 29 at the chamber office, 224 W. Washington Street in Brainerd. Hear how businesses in Minnesota have leveraged limited marketing budgets for the best impact and learn practical ideas and new ways to look at ways to make a target audience take notice. The session is aimed at creating a better understanding of how traditional and digital marketing can work together.
