LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Facebook's website and mobile apps on Wednesday were briefly knocked offline at about 3:45 p.m. Eastern, with the services resuming about 20 minutes later.
The site previously has had more extended outages, most recently in early August. As of June 30, Facebook had 1.32 billion monthly active users worldwide, up 14% year over year, and 1.07 billion mobile active monthly users, an increase of 31%.
Reps for the social giant did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
