A free webinar on the Affordable Care Act is offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA).

The session is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. No pre-registration is required.

As with any law, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) provides both opportunities and defines responsibilities for small business owners, the SBA reported. Understanding how the ACA affects individuals, their business and their employees is an important management function. Additionally in today's highly competitive labor market business owners have to find affordable ways to offer benefits to employees through using effective tools to recruit and retain employees. The availability of health insurance is one of those benefits, the SBA stated.

Presenters from the SBA and IRS will explain opportunities in the ACA, including the availability of tax credits to help to manage costs and personal access to affordable health insurance for the small business owner.

Participants will learn about their responsibilities, including employer shared responsibility provisions and reporting and other compliance requirements. This session will help build an awareness and understanding that will help you deal with current decisions and plan for the future, the SBA stated.
