The Whitefish Area Property Owners Association will hold its annual meeting Saturday, June 9, at the Ideal Community Center. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. for coffee, followed by a free breakfast at 8 a.m. and the meeting with members, county lake resource officials and DNR representatives. Business members are invited to share information about their products and services.
The annual business meeting will include a year-end financial report, audit report and election/re-election of board of director members. President Tom Watson will report on the critical activities, accomplishments and plan for water quality in the area.
Guest speaker is Paul Radomski, Department of Natural Resources scientist, who will the give the presentation "Which Lakes Would You Invest In?" He will discuss three approaches to identify lakes for future investment, which include a list of impaired lakes; lakes a greatest risk of becoming impaired for further degraded; and high-quality, high-value lakes.
Radomski is Minnesota's leading scientific expert on lakeshore habitat management issues.
The meeting will also include a brief overview of the 2018 legislative session relative to aquatic invasive species, public water quality issues, tax matters affecting lake property owners and actions of interest to members.
The meeting will end with a drawing to give away small trees and should be over by about 10:30 a.m.
