An open house for the Crosslake Area Historical Society's new visitor's center is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6.
The 1920s cabin was moved to the Historic Log Village in May 2017. The building was donated to the Crosslake Area Historical Society by the family of David Claypool when they purchased the former Kent's Atwater Resort on Island Lake.
Extensive renovation has been done to prepare the cabin to be used as a gift shop, offices and storage. This project has taken more than two years to complete because of the many obstacles that arose. Future plans include a working kitchen and restroom for volunteers.
Jeanne Kent Thull will be on hand to share stories and reminisce about summer fun at her family's resort before the property was sold to the Claypools. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
