Cancer benefit planned for Carol Russell-Johnson

There will be a cancer benefit for Carol Russell-Johnson 4-8:30 p.m. July 27 at the Eagles Club No. 287, 124 Front St., Brainerd.

A spaghetti dinner will be served 4-7 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children. A silent auction will run 4-6 p.m. Music and karaoke will be 4-8:30 p.m.

Russell-Johnson has stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer of the bile duct. While a cure is unlikely, stenting, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery can help relieve the symptoms. Russell-Johnson is unable to work and the treatments and appointments are becoming unmanageable, organizers stated.

The benefit will help with finances so Russell-Johnson can focus more on healing.
