Five-year-old Falan Dobis of Baxter was recently diagnosed with stage 3 Wilms cancer.

Although surgery was successful to remove a tumor and one of her kidneys, the cancer spread to Falan's lymph nodes.

Falan underwent six weeks of radiation treatment and is in the process of undergoing 25 weeks of chemotherapy at Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis.

A benefit is planned for Falan and her family-parents Ryan and Fran Dobis and brother Aydan. It will be 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd.

A sloppy Joe supper will be served for a freewill donation and attendees may bid on a silent auction. Also included are a bounce house, face painting, bean bag toss and can toss. Suggested donation is $5 per person or $20 per family. Purchase a "Praying for Falan" wristband for $1.
