The 22nd annual Grandpa’s Run for the Walleye on Saturday, July 6, in Crosslake boasted a perfect morning with a cool temperature that was ideal for the 513 people who participated in the 5K race and the 63 runners who did the 10K race.

Eric Cogdill, of Ankeny, Iowa, won the 5K in 17:25. The 10K winner was Ross Ring-Jarvi, 32, of Idledale, Colorado, in a time of 37:57.

Locally, Jesse Clausen, 15, Pequot Lakes, was third in 41:34, and Logan Severson, 17, Nisswa, was fifth in 42:45 in the 10K race.

The top local 5K racer was Joel Carlton, 36, Crosslake, who finished 10th in 19:39.

The Kids Sunfish Dash was broken into four age groups with more than 110 young runners participating overall.

The Whitefish Area Property Owners Association sponsors the race, and all proceeds benefit the fish habitat in the Whitefish Chain of Lakes.
