Brainerd Elks Lodge breakfast
The public is invited to attend the community breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Brainerd Elks Lodge, 215 South Ninth St.
Order from the menu. All proceeds go to support Elks programs.

The special dinner for Friday, Sept. 7, will be Bob Harting's barbecue ribs for $11.

'Nut Job 2' to be shown Sept. 15
DEERWOOD—"Nut Job 2" will be shown at dusk Sept. 15 at the Deerwood Softball Field, an event sponsored by Pack 100 and families.
Walking tacos will be served at 6:30 p.m.

GARRISON—The Garrison Seniors will meet noon Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Light of the Cross Church in Garrison.
Speaker will be from Landsburg Nursery.
WHS Class of 1958 to meet for coffee
The Washington High School Class of 1958 will meet for coffee 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Brick House Bread and Bagel.
This is a special meeting before the class reunion.
Donations wanted by Brainerd High School Class of 1973
Any Brainerd High School Class of 1973 classmates or friends wanting to make a cash donation to the sponsored Cancer Organization, can send a donation to: Mary McKay, 21212 Mail Route Road, Brainerd, MN 56401.

Cash donations must be received by Sept. 6 to be considered for the special drawings. In lieu of a $20 donation, reunion attendees will get an arm's length of tickets for special drawings with proceeds going to the Cancer Organization on behalf of the BHS Class of 1973 Alumni.
The special drawings are four Van Gilder prints; a gift certificate to Bar Harbor, or a week's stay at San Francisco AirBnB Suite.
Tickets will be placed in the "special drawings" boxes and the ticket stubs will be mailed to you. Individual ticket numbers will be recorded so winners will be notified.
Designate how tickets should be distributed. There are three boxes, one for each drawing.
Backus American Legion breakfast set
BACKUS—The Backus American Legion Auxiliary's monthly breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9.
Cost: $7 for adults; and $4 children under age 7.
Proceeds go to veterans, community and auxiliary programs.
Parkinson's Disease Support Group monthly meeting
BAXTER—The Parkinson's Disease Support Group will meet 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, in the dining room at Edgewood Vista, 14211 Firewood Drive, Baxter.
There will be a speaker from the Parkinson's Foundation Minnesota regarding resources available. This group has met for 13 years sharing information, support and concerns. Caregivers also welcome.

Widowed Friends will meet 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the Sawmill Inn.
Senior dances will be from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday at the Wadena VFW with music by Country Ramblers; from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Brainerd Blue Room with music by Jerry's Dance Band; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Deerwood Legion with music by Country Ramblers.

Solidarity Day picnic
Brainerd Trades & Labor is sponsoring Solidarity Day 2018, a Labor Day picnic, from noon-4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at Oscar Kristofferson Park on Lions Road North in Baxter. There will be games, prizes, door prizes, music, beverages and free food.
Square Dance Minnesota
Learn the fundamentals of modern square dancing while enjoying physical and mental exercise. No fancy footwork or special clothing needed. Individuals, couples and families of all ages are welcome.
Lessons 6-8 p.m. Monday nights starting Sept. 10, at the Brainerd American Legion. First lesson is free.
