Pine River Parade of Lights on tap Saturday
The Pine River Parade of Lights event features many activities Saturday, Dec. 8.
The theme is "Grumpy Old Men & Women" and everyone is invited to enter a float in the parade scheduled for 5 p.m. that day.
Two $100 chamber gift certificate prizes will be awarded for Best Use of Lights In Theme and Overall Best Use of Lights. No pre-registration is necessary and lineup will be at 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church.
Other theme contest prizes will be awarded that day for Most Unique Grumpy Old Men & Women Ice Fishing Rod, Best Decorated Grumpy Old Men & Women Hat/Cap and Couple Most Resembling Characters Max & Ariel. Judging will be at 11 a.m. at the Pine River Depot by the Heritage Group North organization. Winners will be invited to participate in the parade.
The free movie "Grumpy Old Men" will be shown at 2 p.m. at the Depot.
Events at the Pine River American Legion will include free horse-drawn rides and Lunch with Santa, both from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Warehouse will be the site of an indoor farmers market and craft show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Pine River Chamber Information Center open house will be held after the Parade of Lights, featuring free Christmas cookies, hot apple cider and hot chocolate. First Lutheran Church Youth Group will offer hot dogs and hot nachos. The yuletide bonfire will be lit just south of the Pine River Depot along the Paul Bunyan Trail after the parade.
The Parade of Lights fireworks display will take place at 6:15 p.m. just behind Pine River State Bank.
