The Whitefish Area Property Owners Association encourages lakeshore owners who are interested in improving water quality and shoreline wildlife habitat to participate in the 11th annual WAPOA Shoreline Management Program.
The lakeshore must be on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes, or on one of the 39 lakes on which WAPOA conducts water quality testing.
Everyone who is interested in learning more about how to restore or improve their shoreline, and to perhaps obtain funding support for their project, is invited to an open house from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 8, at Moonlite Bay Family Restaurant in Crosslake.
Representatives from Crow Wing Soil & Water Conservation District, landscape designers/contractors and WAPOA will answer questions relating to water quality and proposed shoreland projects.
Attend the open house or contact Kristie Roedl, WAPOA's director of shoreland management, at 612-384-0881 or email@example.com to arrange submission of an application and for any questions. Information is also available at www.wapoa.org.
The award program history goes back to 2009. Since then WAPOA has contributed more than $75,000 with help of limited grants toward the shoreland restoration program. The program is funded in part by the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment, Clean Water Fund.
