Fundraiser planned for Dusty Pickar

FORT RIPLEY-There will be a fundraiser for Fort Ripley resident Dusty Pickar from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at St. Mathias Pavilion, 4548 County Road 121, Fort Ripley.

Pulled pork lunch will be served by Pit Happens Catering for $10 a plate. There will be a Chinese auction, drawings, a money board and a park for kids to play. Be Brave t-shirts will also be sold for $10 each with varying sizes.

Pickar was diagnosed with oligodendroglioma (brain cancer) in February. He has had multiple brain surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy. This fundraiser will help support Pickar and his family in the upcoming months.

For those who cannot attend the fundraiser but wish to donate monetarily, an account has been set up at Mid-MN Federal Credit Union under Dustin Pickar Fundraiser. Put his name in the check memo line.

Purse and tool bingo raised $19,000, White Cane Drive planned

The Nisswa Lions recently hosted its first Purse and Tool Bingo at the Nisswa American Legion, which raised $19,000 to help fight diabetes.

The 220 guests spent the evening playing bingo and bidding on raffle auction packages area businesses donated.

The next Nisswa Lions' event is the White Cane Drive June 22. Nisswa Lions will be at various locations in the Nisswa community collecting funds to benefit the blind and people with various eye diseases and other sight issues.
