Discussions are heating up in Unorganized Territory over a proposal by Nisswa to take over fire protection in the northern parts of the district. Nisswa Mayor Ruth Peltier said they could do it for less than the Brainerd Fire Dept. and response times might be quicker.

Demolishing Sauk Rapids 54-0 and then defeating Wadena for the second time this season, 30-12, brought Brainerd the sub-region championship and a berth in the Region 8 tournament. The Warriors were led by Tim and Tom Caughey, Jayme England and Bob Jensen.

Some personal heroics in the second half by guard Vern Stefan weren't enough to carry C-I past Brainerd, as the Warriors took a 70-66 victory. Stefan put in 28 points, but was outscored by Brainerd's John Emerson with 30, backed up by Roger Adair's 23.

Sportsmen are asked to cooperate with the fish and game commission by sending in their 1935 small game license reports. The reports, which are printed on postcards, are needed for tabulations of game taken. Those not reporting may be refused licenses for the coming year.

A. Mampel, tender of the Gull Lake dam, suggests that the Amalgamated Order of Snow Shovelers should conserve the supply of snow and sell it to fishing parties next July and August. He says it would meet with a ready sale.
