A jury trial in Walker began in the case of Gary McKee, 37, last known address Bethesda, Maryland. He stands accused of making terroristic threats in both Cass and Crow Wing counties. He threatened to kill, among others, Sheriff Frank Ball and County Attorney Steve Rathke and their families.

William Sullivan, one of the central figures in indictments against Brainerd Police Officer Randy Bush, had charges against him dropped to compel him to testify against Bush. Bush is accused of assaulting and abusing Sullivan while arresting him last November.

Police at Pierre, S. Dakota notified Brainerd police they were holding a 15-year-old youth in connection with a break-in at the lively Auto Garage here. An unknown person took $80 cash from the till, but police suspected the boy as he was a former employee.
- 80 years ago (1939)
Two Brainerd boys, ages 15 and 11, confessed yesterday to several break-ins in the past six weeks. They hit a cottage on Gilbert Lake, shooting up the place with a .22 rifle. They broke into Frank's Ice Cream Shop once and the TNT Tavern three times, taking candy, gum and minor items.
