After deliberating for about 12 hours on Friday and Saturday, jurors deciding the fate of Charles Knox were locked down overnight at the Holiday Inn and will resume at 9 a.m. Sunday. The three-week trial charges Knox in the beating death of Mike Mahoney, Nisswa.

(Photo) Traffic was blocked at 4th and Washington Streets this noon as a beer truck collided with a pickup truck that was towing a roofing elevator. The impact threw the pickup into a passing car. Firemen hosed down gas spills and no one was injured.

"I threw lighted cigarettes into the woods and didn't give a damn if they burned." So said Irvin Williams of rural Sebeka after taking a lie detector test here in connection with a half-million dollar forest fire. Neighbors said they had seen a car like his near where the fire started.

Two Ironton men were sentenced to up to five years in the state penitentiary when they pleaded guilty to third degree burglary before Judge Fullerton yesterday. The two broke into Bay Lake and other cabins, stealing hundreds of dollars in property.
