Maralee Gazelka has chosen Mother's Day to announce she will represent the Brainerd area in the Mrs. Minnesota-American Pageant to be held June 26 at the Fitzgerald Theatre in St. Paul. Maralee and husband Paul moved to Brainerd in 1996 with their four children.

The pilot and six passengers escaped serious injury when their plane crashed while trying to land at the East Gull Lake Airport over the weekend. The twin-engine Beech Baron sustained major damage when it failed to lower its landing gear before landing.

The Brainerd Sportsmen's Club urged those wishing to attend the sports show at the Palace Theatre tonight to buy their tickets in advance from club members. The show will consist of nine short films on a variety of sports and running a total of 100 minutes.

With a mind to investigate trains and depots, little Bobby Larson, age 4, boarded the train at the depot. Being discovered as riding alone, he was put off at the railroad hospital west of town. Police Chief Varner inherited the problem and took Bobby home to dinner. His frantic mother later arrived to claim him.
