John Prozinski is making Brainerd proud. The local man was recently elected as the 80th president of the U.S. Jaycees at their national convention at Niagara Falls, New York. He is thankful for the support he's received from Jaycees throughout the Brainerd area.

Mayor Bob Olson went 7-for-9 Monday night with mayoral appointments but struck out in a repeat attempt to appoint Irene Johnson to the Public Utilities Commission. When that failed, Olson put forward Ray Shortridge for a second time, but that failed on a 4-3 vote.

A crowd of 1,500 thrilled to the fine choral music of the massed concert of the American Union of Swedish Singers. The 200 singer group performed nine numbers in the Washington High School gym, while the Brainerd City Band played a number of selections.
