Sweden and Minnesota have mosquitoes and mail delivery in common. Conny Jacobson, of Sala, Sweden, visited Brainerd and helped Len Loukota deliver his route - and swat a few mosquitoes. The Brainerd Post Office sorts mail by machine, but at home Jacobson says they still sort by hand.

Baxter council members were warned again that any attempt to take over Crow Wing Power lines in Baxter will bring on a fight. The council is exploring creating a municipal utility that could operate its own power system or contract with Brainerd for service. They say Crow Wing Power's rates are too high.

Luck was riding with the Brainerd Braves yesterday as they marked their sixth straight victory of the season, 6-3 over Henning. Daryl Adair went the route, giving up just seven hits. But Henning stranded 14 runners as Adair walked 11 batters and hit another to stay in hot water.
