On June 3, Bart Taylor of Crosslake not only recorded a hole-in-one, the first ever at Deacon's Lodge in Breezy Point, but he did it on a par 4, making it a double eagle as well. He stepped up to the 330-yard 7th hole with a nice tailwind and drove the green, where it trickled into the cup.

There was a three-way tie for champion of the Camp Confidence Celebrity Golf Classic among teams headed by former Viking Bill Brown, broadcaster John Froyd and former Globetrotter Jim Tucker. The first women's best-ball was won by the team of Darlene Palmer, Linda Schmid, Jean Martin and Alice Benson.

(Photo) Bricklayers were hard at work this morning on the 60,000 square foot K-Mart store being built as the first phase of construction at the Westgate Mall. K-Mart is set to open Nov. 8, 1979. A second department store and 45 shops are planned for the second phase.

The first paper to be made on the Northwest Paper Company's new No. 6 machine flowed off in a long, continuous roll yesterday although the block-long machine is still not complete. The machine makes paper in 200-inch wide rolls.

The largest construction project in recent Brainerd history is now under way as four new grade schools costing nearly $200,000 each take shape. They are Lincoln, Lowell, Harrison and Whittier, funded in part by WPA grants from Washington, DC.

Secretary Lincoln of the YMCA urges that the Gopher Gunner Band of the 151st Field Artillery be engaged to lead a parade in July to celebrate the homecoming of our boys in khaki from the great war. Big meeting at the Chamber tonight at 8 p.m. to lay plans.
