The public is invited to attend the 73rd annual meeting of the Crow Wing County Historical Society at Grand View Lodge. Tickets are $20 and include dinner. Entertainment will be the Harmony Engineers Quartet: Peter Johnson, Jody Crowe, Todd Holman and Steve Schaitberger.

30 years ago (1990)

Two Brainerd High School grads have helped Mankato State get off to a 9-3-1 start in baseball this year. Todd Revenig, a right-handed reliever, has earned a save and has a 3.53 ERA. Right-hander Brett Streiff is 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA. Mankato has won five North Central Conf. titles in a row.

40 years ago (1980)

The Crow Wing County jail passed its first inspection last month with flying colors, earning a near perfect 97 percent rating from the Minn. Dept. of Corrections. The state rated it as “one of the best of any local detention facility in Minnesota.”

60 years ago (1960)

Don Ryan, attorney for Floyd Devilbiss, 15-year-old county youth currently serving a 5-to-20 year sentence for manslaughter, today asked the state pardon board to release the boy so he can enter Boys' Town in Nebraska. The boy, who killed his father, is in the St. Cloud Reformatory.

100 years ago (1920)
