20 years ago (2000)

The Warriors boys' soccer team tied its archrival, the Alexandria Cardinals, 2-2 in a conference matchup. Alec scored first in the 28th minute, but Brainerd responded with a goal by Jason Roberts, assisted by Aaron Mertes. Each team scored in the second half, but the OT was scoreless.

30 years ago (1990)

The Warrior girls' tennis team defeated St. Cloud Apollo 7-0 to even its conference record at 4-4 and move to 16-8 overall. Alena Grabowski, Shannon Larson, Jeanne Jones and Holly Resch won at No. 1 through 4 singles. Later in the day, Resch was crowned as the Warrior Homecoming Queen.

40 years ago (1980)

Local law officials today wrapped-up a two-month investigation of a “mini-network of teen age delinquents” responsible for property damage, shoplifting and burglaries amounting to over $10,000. The investigation will result in charges against at least 20 juveniles and 10 adults.

60 years ago (1960)

Tired of being kicked around, and with a revamped lineup and with a healthy Dale Brown back at fullback, the Warrior football team smacked down a favored St. Cloud Tech team 32-6. Brown, a 190-pound junior, rushed for 153 yards, three TDs and two extra points, and made some booming punts.

80 years ago (1940)

Brainerd High School grad Gene Bierhaus and four other regulars returned to the Minnesota Gopher first string today after spending several days playing with the second squad. Bierhaus at QB may lead Coach Bernie Bierman's footballers against Univ. of Washington this weekend.

100 years ago (1920)

The cast of the theater company presenting the musical comedy “Linger Longer Letty” at the Park Theatre tonight, arrived here this afternoon. As a diversion, members of the chorus and cast went to the Fordson Tractor demonstration. Miss Josie Henley was the first to master the intricacies of driving a tractor.
