If Crosslake can be compared to a ribbon, stretching along a two-lane highway, there are plans to put a bow on it. Construction begins this week on the Crosslake Town Square project that will mingle green space, public access and retail development into a pedestrian friendly environment.

30 years ago (1990)

Word that the Minn. PCA will attempt to include the old Brainerd city dump on its list of sites to clean up was actually good news to Dick Beal. The volunteer director of the Paul Bunyan Arboretum says the old dump is just 35 acres of the 500-acre arb, and is no hazard to anyone using the facility.

Robert Ryan, 30, son of Brainerd attorney Clem Ryan, was admitted to the Minn. State Bar yesterday and has joined the Brainerd firm of Ryan, Ryan and Ebert. He is a graduate of St. John's Univ. and William Mitchell School of Law. He served as a Marine Corps jet pilot in Korea in 1954-55.

Thomas and Charles Britton returned Sunday morning from western Montana where they have been prospecting during the summer. They have staked out two claims yielding good looking samples of silver, lead and gold, they said, located in the vicinity of some very rich mines.
