Brainerd wrestler Vince Sellnow remained unbeaten at 103 pounds on his way to the title at the Cambridge Invitational. Sellnow pinned his opponent in the finals to run his season record to 11-0. The Warriors' Dusty Pickar was second at 135 pounds and brother Andy Pickar was second at 140.

30 years ago (1991)

Judges Clint Wyant and Bob Kautz signed orders appointing Hugh Cameron, Robert Polzak and John Sausen as temporary asst. county attorneys for new county attorney Jack Graham. Graham said he needs help now, meanwhile he and the county board are wrangling over what salaries they will receive.

(Photo) Lake Shore Police Chief Jim Deyo, with the help of several volunteers and diver Bill Matthies, helped pull four snowmobiles out of Gull Lake last week. The sleds plunged through the ice near the Deauville Restaurant in an area notorious for thin ice. No drivers were seriously injured.

60 years ago (1961)

Hockey practice will be held tonight and tomorrow night at the rink in the fill grounds, according to Joe Straka. Regular practices are planned for those aspiring to be on the city hockey team. Anyone interested should report for the drills.

100 years ago (1921)

Dr. F.L. Wilson of Walker, and well known here in Brainerd, had a narrow escape with death. He was driving his Buick on Leech Lake when it broke through the ice near Onigum. Providentially, it settled in shallow water on a sand bar.
