Fourteen children were injured after their school bus was rear-ended by a truck. The bus was stopped on Hwy 210 just north of Anderson Bros. Construction when a pickup pulling a fifth-wheel trailer hit it at an estimated 50 mph. The trailer separated and hit the cab of the pickup, pinning the driver inside.

Officials with 371 Bingo, operating in the former Hardware Hank store on S. 8th Street, say they are being harassed by police. Tom Burton, pres. of Ski Gull, which operates the bingo, said three officers in two squad cars came in the midst of bingo to check their bingo license. Police had previously been informed the license was renewed.

Unless Gov. Al Quie can change some legislative minds, the school district may have to go to the bank and borrow $600,000 to meet payroll next month. The state is $200 million short and, because it cannot deficit spend, it would have to cut payments to schools. And Brainerd has no reserves to draw from.

Although the Warrior track team didn't have enough depth to win the team title at the Wadena Invitational, it took three firsts. Dale Brown won the discus with a meet record toss of 143-10. Dick Ungerecht took the mile run in a record 4:48.1, and Ron Longtin took the 440 yard run in 55:55.

An explosion of unknown origin destroyed a 10-foot section of the NP Railroad track between the Evergreen and Arco mines in Crosby last night. The track has been repaired, but the mystery explosion is being investigated by railway special agents. There are rumors the FBI is also involved.
