After a quarter century of building Universal Pensions, founder Arnie Johnson today announced the multi-million dollar sale of his company to a New Jersey-based retirement services company. BISYS Group paid about $85 million for the Brainerd company. Johnson, the owner and CEO, said he will remain as a consultant to the new owner.

40 years ago (1981)
A community rally seeks funds and support for Tim Rosenberger, a Warrior senior baseball player who was suspended for “being in the presence of” alcohol at a recent grad party, violating a district rule. A judge's order reinstated him to the team but the coach says he will not play. The MN State High School League dropped a similar rule in 1973 as “unmanageable and unreasonable.”
60 years ago (1961)
The Warrior baseball team will meet Pequot Lakes in the finals of the District 24 tournament after Brainerd halted a Staples rally in the 7th for a 3-2 win. For the second straight game, Brainerd barely won despite one-hit pitching. Gerry Lyscio struck out 12 but needed help from Dale Brown after errors tightened the game.
80 years ago (1941)
The softball leagues are coming. June 2 will feature the opening games of the Ladies League at 6 p.m. and the men's Model T League at 8 p.m. The following night opens the A League schedule, with games scheduled for every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thusday and Friday night through August 19.
