In addition to those planned in Brainerd and Little Falls, at least five other Thanksgiving meals will be available to the public for free.
The Pine River American Legion will serve turkey and sides Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. The event will be 3-6 p.m. at the legion.
Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, a mile north of Garrison, will also offer free Thanksgiving meals Thursday, Nov. 28. The church will offer a free Thanksgiving dinner 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday — or until the food is gone — with turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, corn, sweet potatoes, rolls, desserts and beverages. A free-will donation will be accepted.
The Pequot Lakes American Legion family will host a dinner 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Everyone is welcome. There is no charge for the dinner; free-will offerings will be accepted.
Grace United Methodist Church in Pequot Lakes will host its annual free community Thanksgiving Day dinner noon to 3 p.m. Thursday. Free-will offerings will be accepted with profits being shared between the Lakes Area Food Shelf in Pequot Lakes and Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen in Brainerd.

Dennis Drummond Wine Co. southeast of Brainerd will offer a complimentary turkey dinner with all the fixings 4:30-6 p.m. at 11919 Thiesse Road in Long Lake Township. A “love offering” to the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen will be accepted.
Other places serving a free Thanksgiving meal and accepting free-will donations include the Brainerd American Legion 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Little Falls Community High School 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
