Crow Wing County residents are invited to participate in a virtual Operation Community Connect event 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24, via Facebook or Zoom.
Operation Community Connect is designed to provide resources, connections and support in one location on one day. It is free for Crow Wing County residents.
Data from 2018 shows a county poverty rate of 12.6% — or about 8,000 people — Operation Community Connect Co-chair Jennifer Perez Krueger stated in a news release. These figures, though, do not reflect the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the target audience is individuals in need, the event is open to everyone. Community members can meet with housing representatives, county services and a variety of providers to access resources in one online location. Additional services will include veterans services, mental health screenings, public health information, public assistance and food benefits, restorative justice, a cooking demonstration and more.
“This event reduces barriers for families to access the services that already exist, and it is a great opportunity for community members to learn about resources, access services, and connect to their community,” Perez Krueger said in a news release.
