Kathy Porwall has completed the mural on the post office wall. Delivered as promised, the mural depicts the Brainerd Post office since the early 1900s. The five-scene picture was researched and sketched by Porwall, then painted on the wall.

Continuing a 10-year tradition at the Brainerd Moose Lodge, Mildred Michaelis, a Moose member, will be the recipient of the Moose Celebrity Roast. A special banquet of steak and lobster will be served. Jim Falconer will be the roastmaster this year.

Conrad A. Bye has been named administrative assistant to Einer Anderson, county auditor. Bye, formerly of Crosby, is a 1964 graduate of the U of Minn. and has an MBA from Northern Illinois. He previously worked for General Mills and United Airlines.

A resolution recommending fluoridation of Brainerd’s water supply was signed by 20 of 21 doctors present at a meeting of the medical staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital. This comes in response to a Brainerd alderman claiming medical professionals don’t support it.

Formal opening of the new $60,000 St. Francis Catholic Church marks another addition to the list of impressive places of worship in the city. A recent canvass of the church membership indicates 2,600 members in 500 church families.
100 years ago (1914)
Leslie Bush, the Philadelphia Athletics pitcher, returned from Philadelphia yesterday and will leave soon for the spring training camp at Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. J.W. Bush, his mother, will accompany him as far as Iowa, where she will visit relatives.
