It’s back to home sweet home for 84-year-old Hazel Schilb after the city council slightly bent a few rules. Her home, which was heavily damaged by fire, is a non-conforming use in a commercial zone. She’ll be allowed to repair it but, when she leaves, it must be removed.

Fishermen could no longer use electronic depth-finders and fishing guides could no longer fish while out with customers, if two bills in the legislature become law. Rep. Glen Sherwood of Pine River, author of both bills, says chances of passage of either one is nil.

The suicide of a former Brainerd man in Richmond, Calif., has revived the Crow Wing County sheriff’s inquiry into the slaying of Eugene Stolze here in June, 1950. Before committing suicide, the man told his wife he had killed a Minnesota man and got away with it.

Cheering news for Crow Wing County men registered with the National Re-employment Service came with word that $136,526 in PWA construction projects at Camp Ripley had been awarded. Nearly half the quota of men for the projects will come from Crow Wing.

M.E. Ryan, of the county democratic central committee, has gone to Minneapolis to attend the “get together” dinner of the democrats. It is expected that fully 250 will take part, as great interest has been manifested in the occasion.
