Warrior swimmers recorded their first win over St. Cloud Tech since 1974, winning 93-79 at St. Cloud. Coach Willy Severson said “Chad Price had his best night ever as a Warrior, pulling off an upset win in the butterfly, his fastest time ever at 59.9 seconds.”

The Brainerd city council adopted a deficit budget for 1974, despite objection by finance committee member Merle Storm. Mary Koep and Howard Blanck, the other committee members, moved and seconded the motion which passed 6-1, with Storm opposed.

Brainerd’s snow carnival will be held this weekend despite a threat that warmer weather may hinder the skating and skiing events. Jaycee officials said there is no threat to the ice fishing contest as the ice on Rice Lake is shown to be completely safe.

The ghost of last year’s district and region champion team stalked again as this year’s Warriors swept through a bewildered C-I team in wraith-like fashion, winning by a score of 29-26 before a frenzied audience. Star guard Garvey was in bed at home due to illness.

B.B. Gaylord, a prominent mining man of Crosby, went to Minneapolis to attend the auto show and to purchase an eight cylinder machine. It is said the cough of an eight cylinder can be heard over a wide area and it is the most powerful machine ever constructed.
