30 years ago (1984)
Almost $200 in cash was taken from a Brainerd home over the weekend, said police. Donald Kaser discovered the theft after returning from a trip. Some of the money was in change and the rest in bills. Part of the money belonged to Kaser’s bowling team.

40 years ago (1974)
One-year-old Angela Auge was quite a celebrity a year ago, the first baby of 1973 at Cuyuna Range District Hospital. Today she gives way to the first baby of 1974 – her sister, Amy Elizabeth. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. James Auge of Crosby.

60 years ago (1954)
Organization of a Downtown Quarterbacks Club is being planned in Brainerd by two sports enthusiasts, Chet Snyder and Jack Nutting, plus Dispatch sports editor Jim Wallace. First meeting is set for Jan. 7 at the Ransford Hotel. Sign up now.

80 years ago (1934)
Brainerd has leased the airport known as Rosko Field from the Rosko Bros. for a period of five years at rate of $1 per year. This makes the airport eligible for federal funds, and Mayor Harry Creger and City Engineer Campbell are in St. Paul to seek funding.

100 years ago (1914)
The Laurels, a newly formed bowling club, met and defeated the UCT team at the Coffrain & Cook alleys. The score for the Laurels being 2,420 pins, and that for the UCT being 2,254 pins.
