Two groups dedicated to matching adult mentors with children are joining hands. The boards of Volunteers in Partnership and Kinship have announced plans to merge. The two non-profits have overlapping services, and Pat Johnston will direct the new organization.

James Rabehl, an 11-year veteran of the Brainerd School Board was elected board chair yesterday. He is the Crow Wing County Extension Agent. Darlene Anderson, a Nisswa homemaker, was elected vice-chair. Anderson and Fred Casey were sworn in after re-election.

St. Paul police reported they have recovered the Service News Agency truck stolen here last week from Mills Motor. After the theft, the thieves ransacked the Mills garage and stole cash and merchandise from Cities Service station and King’s Sporting Goods.

Pete Cardle will make a bid for fame and glory when he enters the arena at the circus to shave the lion tamer amidst his man-eaters of the jungle. Pete the barber was kidding the lion man about his tame cats when the suitably nettled man laid down the challenge.
