It might have been similar to the Loch Ness Monster, but the creature on West Twin Lake north of Nisswa turned out to be a moose with one horn. Mrs. Wilfred Sands heard a splash outside her window and yelled for her husband. It ran across their beach area, leaving huge hoof prints. DNR officials said it likely weighed 700-800 pounds.

The county commissioners met at 10 a.m. Monday in a session that went on until after midnight. In addition to regular business, they considered the sale by A.A. White of 100 city lots located south and west of the court house. The cost would be $1.00, payable in 50 years at no interest. The land would be ideal for a park.
