(Photo) Two young Brainerd men are in custody after a pellet gun vandalism spree last night damaged 15 businesses and at least 50 vehicles, with reports still coming in. The two drove around the city in a car, peppering store fronts and cars. At Fieldman's Store on Front Street it looked like someone had used a machine gun on the windows.

The prelude to last night's rain storm was a terrific bolt of lightning that struck the Brown home at 624 Bluff Ave. It shattered the house and damaged every room. It tore plaster from every room, broke all the floors upstairs, threw furniture about, tore doors off their hinges, broke joists and knocked the building off its foundation. There were no injuries.
