The way was cleared to begin renovation on Brainerd City Hall when the council approved 29 contracts, rejected two and asked that one be re-bid. The council elected to spend an added $130,000, bringing the total cost of the project to $1,380,000.

A Crow Wing County Deputy Sheriff shot and wounded a German Shepherd after the animal attacked a State Hospital employee. The employee had been called to assist in taking a woman into custody. The woman ordered the dog to attack and the deputy shot it.

The cornerstone for a new hospital and a new school were cemented in place and blessed yesterday by Bishop Thomas A. Welch of Duluth. After services at St. Francis Catholic Church he laid the cornerstone for the new St. Francis School, and later for St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Brainerd evened up an old score and beat Benton County 4 to 2 in as pretty and exciting a game as was ever seen at the Koering Grounds. The grandstand, bleachers and sidelines were packed, about 1,500 people seeing the game.
