(1994) The North Central Motor Speedway opener was a good season start for Justin Aylward, who won the feature race in the Street Stock Class. It was his first race with his car and he edged another rookie, Erick Thiesse, by just inches.

Gull Lake Recreation has received the go-ahead from the DNR for an expansion of Ski Gull, a downhill ski area on the west side of Gull Lake. The five-year proposal will be on 20 of the 191 acres given to the state by Mr. and Mrs. Brownie Cote.

The FCC has given its approval of the sale of Radio Stations KLIZ-AM and FM to Earl Johnsen, present general manager. The sale was announced by current president Ed Tom O’Brien. The station has been in the O’Brien family since 1946.

A three-inch rainfall that even surprised the weatherman, forced Brainerd’s Memorial Day services under cover and canceled the parade. The rainfall flooded the intersection at 6th and Laurel and flooded into businesses along S. 6th Street.

Two prodigious home run drives, one by Muskie manager Charlie Patton with the hassocks loaded by mates, and another by Phil Seghi with two mates on the runways, were the feature of the Muskies 16-7 win over the league-leading Superior Blues.
