Two armed men, one of them the accused killer of two persons near Agate Lake, escaped from the Wadena County jail after shooting a sheriff’s dispatcher. The escape was at 8:15 p.m. using a handgun smuggled in during visiting hours by the killer’s girl friend.

If the $1.9 million school bond issue is approved next Tuesday, construction of the new schools will be spread out over at least 2.5 years. School board members, in a statement today, said this would keep as much of the construction employment local as possible.

Hans Pilarski, a farmer in Platte Lake Township, found a wounded hunter in his haystack. The man, who had been there two days and nights, appeared to have been shot in both legs, probably with a rifle. Men, who wouldn’t give their names, came to take him away.
