Fake punts have been one of the most dangerous weapons in the Warriors arsenal. Head coach Ron Stolski has the knack of calling the play when it's most likely to succeed, such as Friday against St. Cloud Apollo. Brainerd went on to take down the Eagles 34-21.

The oldest church building in Brainerd, the First Congregational Church located at 5th and Juniper Streets, will celebrate its 100th anniversary on September 13.

An armed robber escaped with $1,400 in cash and $500 in checks from the Crown Auto store at closing time last night. The assistant manager was alone when the gunman put a gun to his head and demanded money, not just from the till, but also the cash box.

Hitting honors for the just completed 1951 Brainerd Braves baseball team went to the youngest member of the team, 17-year-old Gordie Coleman. He hit .344 with 3 homeruns. Dick Cook and Ed Gumlia tied with 33 RBIs apiece in that category.

Brainerd schools opened this morning with all teachers on hand and about the same first day's attendance as last year. As far as principals were able to estimate, there were 1,600 enrolled in the grades and in excess of 600 at the high school for a total of 2,200.

Many hunting parties coming to our area have come into conflict with the law forbidding drinking on the trains. They have found it necessary to wait until they reached the shelter of the woods before daring to take a drink.
