Kim Brown, formerly Kim Welliver, and her husband Tim Brown arrived at an unusual wedding reception at the parking lot of Memorial Park in Brainerd Saturday, Aug. 22. The bride has been fighting cancer for four years so, due to her illness and the coronavirus pandemic, people attending the wedding were limited to reduce the risk of exposure. But after the wedding, as a surprise for the bride, a line comprised of friends and family gathered by their vehicles in the parking lot of Memorial Park to wish the couple well, many holding homemade signs. The couple drove slowly past, without exiting the vehicle, waving and talking with well wishers. Once everyone had greeted the newlyweds, they formed a line of vehicles behind the couple and drove through town.

Growing up in the Brainerd lakes area I realized that I never wanted to leave, so it is a true blessing that I was able to find a job at the Dispatch doing something I love. As a visual journalist, I work in the mediums of photography and videography to bring our readers everything from sports, hard news, weather and local events to slice of life documentation of our coverage area.
