A Christmas tree lighting event is set for 5-6:30 p.m. Friday at Veterans Park in Jenkins. A bonfire starts 5 p.m. with free hot dogs and apple cider available. The tree lighting will occur at 5:30 p.m. Attendees may also participate in free hayrides and caroling until 6:30 p.m.

View holiday window displays in downtown Brainerd 5-7 p.m. Friday, as part of a Downtown Brainerd Window Walk. Local nonprofits are filling up empty windows and displays and participating downtown businesses will be open until 7 p.m.

A Holiday Spoil and Splurge Gift Giving event is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Elysium Hair Studio, 207 S. Seventh St., Brainerd. The event features local vendors and artisans as well as Sage on Laurel catering, Fancy Pants Chocolates and wine.

The Sertoma Winter Wonderland is open 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Northland Arboretum. Community Christmas Concert featuring Frostiana will be 7 p.m. Saturday at the Centennial Auditorium in Staples. The Community Christmas Concert brings themed music with excitement and the magic of Christmas to ears and hearts, a news release stated. This year will be the performance of Frostiana: Seven Country Songs, from the poems of Robert Frost. Tickets are $10/adults, $5/children and $25/families. A presentation on the winter nesting grounds of monarch butterflies is set for 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Tiny Sprouts Day Care Center, 28895 Peterson Path, Pequot Lakes. A Santa craft event for kids is planned for noon Sunday at Zorbaz on Gull Lake, 8105 Lost Lake Road, Lake Shore.
