Morning Club

The Center Morning Club meets each Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A speaker program is scheduled each week on various subjects of interest to the community.

The club also participates in the “Books in a Bag” program sponsored by the public library. All members of the Center, men and women, are invited to become part of the group. Coffee and delicious Center-made donuts are provided.

The programs for August are as follows: Aug. 7, Robert Schricker, executive director. Woodland Good Samaritan Village Adult Day Care; Aug. 14, Dick and Kathy Herold, Mission trip to an Ecuador orphanage; Aug. 21, Branden Noetzel, 1 Life, tattoo artistry; Aug. 28, Mayor Darrel Olson, Baxter city update.

■ Good Samaritan Society offers Alzheimer’s education sessions

Good Samaritan Society – Communities of Brainerd and Pine River invite the public to upcoming Alzheimer’s education sessions. The information will be useful for caregivers, family members, and friends of those with memory loss: Empowerment at its Finest: Creating Fun Community through Unity, from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 13, Good Samaritan Society-Woodland Chapel, 100 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd; Resident-Centered Care from their Perspective, from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 10, Good Samaritan Society – Woodland Chapel, 100 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd.

The sessions are free and open to the public. RSVP is encouraged to 829-1429. A light meal will be provided. Companion care available upon request through Breath of Life Adult Day Service.

■ Mille Lacs boat launch for singles

A Mille Lacs boat launch for singles is planned for 6-10 p.m. Aug. 17. Call 828-9343. The event is sponsored by the St. Cloud singles club, a non-profit group.

■ Dad’s Belgian waffle breakfast planned

DEERWOOD - Deerwood Lakes Lions is hosting Dad’s Belgian waffle breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 1 at Deerwood American Legion. Cost: $7, adults; kids 5 and under, free. Tickets available from Deerwood Lakes Lion members. Proceeds benefit Deerwood Lakes Lions projects in the community.

■ Mission Possible Senior Club

MISSION - The Mission Possible Senior Club will hold its monthly meeting at noon Wednesday at the Mission Town Hall. There will be a potluck luncheon followed by listening music with Steve Anderson.

The Brainerd Lakes Chapter MN Lyme Association will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Trailside Center, 30028 CR 112, Pequot Lakes.

Featured speakers will be Julie Blanchard and Kathryn Pietz who will be presenting the benefits of the Wellness Pro, a bioelectrical frequency generator that is FDA approved to treat pain associated with Lyme disease as well as the related co-infections.
