Parkinson’s Disease support group meeting via Zoom

The Brainerd Lakes Area Parkinson’s Disease support group will meet virtually via Zoom 1 p.m. March 4.

A therapist will present on depression and anxiety. For those not on the email list or have a question, call 218-829-4017.

Crow Wing County Master Gardeners speakers bureau

A total of 238 people attended February Zoom presentations given by University of Minnesota Extension Crow Wing County Master Gardeners.

About 195 people from Crow Wing County and many other Minnesota counties as well as Canada, Illinois and Wisconsin attended the February zoom webinar, The Cutting Garden and Language of Flowers, cosponsored by University of Minnesota Extension Crow Wing County Master Gardeners and the Brainerd Public Library.

Crow Wing County Master Gardeners have been co-hosting garden presentations with the Brainerd Public Library since April 2013.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the March and April 2020 presentations were canceled and resumed in June via Zoom for the remainder of the year. They will continue to be meeting via Zoom until the University of Minnesota Extension allows in-person events.

The Master Gardener classes in cooperation with the Brainerd Public Library are given on the second Tuesday of each month. Future Zoom classes presented by Master Gardeners will be: Miniature Gardens on March 9; Trees: Choose Wisely and Plant Properly on April 13; Flower Gardening for Beginners on May 11; and Hostas on June 8.

In addition to the monthly Gardening Class in cooperation with the Brainerd Public Library, Crow Wing County Master Gardeners Speakers Bureau gives presentations upon request to garden clubs and other organizations. The purpose of the presentations is to educate the public about research based horticultural practices for the home gardener. A list of presentation topics is available at www.crowwingmastergardeners.org . Normal scheduling requires a notice of two weeks.
