■ Crosslake Clothes Closet announces summer hours
Crosslake - The Clothes Closet at 37560 Ox Lake Landing announces its summer hours as the first and third Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. The closet will not be open Tuesday mornings during the summer months of June, July or August.
The Closet offers clothing and shoes for men, women and children, some small appliances, kitchen items, knick knacks, etc at no charge! Donations are accepted during business hours.

■ Garrison Seniors meeting
GARRISON - Garrison Seniors will meet noon Tuesday at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church, 27170 Monroe Street, two blocks west of the Super Valu in the city of Garrison. Bring a potluck food item to share and your plates, cups and silverware. Heather Erickson, Director of Nutritional Services at Riverwood Health in Aitkin, will present the program following the potluck lunch.
■ Knowledge Bites
GARRISON - Knowledge Bites will have Lara Parkin, the owner of Karmady Fitness in Aitkin, speak at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church, Garrison, at 2 p.m. June 10. Lara is a certified fitness instructor and yoga teacher and she will show us how to maintain balance and flexibility with exercises to do at home. Balance and flexibility are very important as we go through life and particularly as we age. Wear comfy clothes and follow along with Lara’s instructions. Light of the Cross is located two blocks west of the Super Valu in Garrison. This is a free presentation for the public and all are welcome. Knowledge Bites is a community event and is intended to provide “bites” of knowledge on different subjects on a monthly basis.

From A to Z presentation
CROSBY - Hip and Knee: From A to Z will be presented by Orthopaedic Joint Coordinator Adam English, R.N., at noon June 11 at the Heartwood Senior Living Community in Crosby.
At the presentation, English will speak about the causes, symptoms and treatments for osteoarthritis. He will also discuss how total hip and total knee replacement surgery is done and explain the Minnesota Center for Orthopaedics’ new Rapid Recovery protocol with data.

Ray’s Promenaders will dance Friday at the Brainerd American Legion, 708 Front St., Brainerd. Abe Maier will be the caller for the evening, with plus dancing beginning at 7:30 p.m. followed by mainstream at 8 p.m. A finger food potluck will follow the dance.

■ Backus American Legion Auxiliary breakfast
BACKUS - The Backus American Legion Auxiliary’s monthly breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 8. The meal includes a choice of fried or scrambled eggs, French toast or pancakes, bacon and sausage, juice and coffee for $7 for adults and $4 for children under 7. The clubrooms are located near Highways 371 and 87 West.
HACKENSACK - Hackensack Legion Post 202 will be honoring all veterans on June 7. A veteran appreciation party will be held at the Legion Club beginning at 6 p.m. with appetizers and social hour. The program and music by “Driven” will begin at 7 p.m. The program will include recognition of long time Post 202 members; recognition of veterans of all wars and conflicts and recognition of all veterans by branch of service: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. All area veterans and families are invited to attend this event. Those attending may wear any part of their uniform they wish.

■ Center Morning Club
The Center Morning Club meets each Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A speaker program is scheduled each week on various subjects of interest to the community.
The club also participates in the “Books in a Bag” program sponsored by the public library. All members of The Center, men and women, are invited to become part of the group. Coffee and Center made donuts are provided. The programs scheduled for June are: June 4 - Doris and Casey Stengel, A Visit to Bolivia; June 11 - Bob Hershey, former CEO of Potlatch; June 18 - Debi Beckdahl, Retired Chief Deputy Sheriff - Badge 102; June 25 - Gary Walters, A Search for the Loch Ness Monster.
■ Flag Day
Good Samaritan Society invites the public for a ceremony honoring the flag at 1:30 p.m. June 13 at the Good Samaritan Society-Woodland campus courtyard in Brainerd. The 11th annual dedication service will feature a flag folding ceremony, special music, local dignitaries, and a 21-gun salute. The ceremony will be held rain or shine.
■ End-of-Life Medical Care information session
The public is invited for a special information session on what you need to know about Provider Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) from 4:30-6:30 p.m. June 19 at the Good Samaritan Society-Bethany Campus at 804 Wright St., in Brainerd.
Participants will learn the difference between POLST and Health Care Directives and how the two complement each other. Having plans in place eliminates unnecessary worry about end-of-life medical care wishes for you and your loved ones. A light meal will be provided. RSVP encouraged by June 16 to 825-2516.
