A four-week curling program for kids starts Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Brainerd Lakes Curling Club.
This will be an introductory program for kids ages 6-16, where they learn basic skills, etiquette, curling terminology and strategy from the club’s experienced curlers. The program is a great way to prepare participants with the skills needed to eventually play in leagues or bonspiels (tournaments). Previous curling experience is not required.
Participants will be divided into two age groups (6-10 and 11-16) with smaller groups determined based on age and skill level. A 4-to-1 participant-to-instructor ratio will ensure that kids are getting a lot of personal instruction.
The Rock Stars group (ages 6-10) is from 1-1:45 p.m. through March 8.
The Super Sweepers group (ages 11-16) is from 2-3 p.m. through March 8.

All participants will be invited to play in the club’s first Hit-Draw-Tap Competition, which is a USA Curling skills competition event.
Space is limited. The cost is $25 for the four-week session, the Hit-Draw-Tap Competition and a T-shirt. The maximum cost per family is $50. Reduced fees and scholarships are available. No kids will be turned away because of an inability to pay. Visit the club’s website at www.brainerdcurling.org to register, or email brainerdlakescurling@gmail.com with questions.
