The Five Wings Arts Council recently recognized Lakes Printing of Brainerd with the Outstanding Business Support of the Arts Award at the region wide Celebration of the Arts. Given only every three years, this award recognizes a business within Cass, Crow Wing, Todd, Morrison and Wadena Counties that demonstrates long standing and deep support of the arts through charitable contributions, creative fundraising partnerships, and support of their employees as volunteers for arts endeavors. The award, presented by Sheila Smith, executive director of Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, is one of only a few of its kind given to businesses in the state.

For over 30 years Lakes Printing has played an integral role in ensuring that local arts organizations are able to fulfill their mission to serve the community. By providing high quality printed materials, such as posters, programs, pamphlets, and membership materials, Lakes Printing helps arts organization present a visual appealing story of the organization's work in the community with professional flair. In addition, their efficient mailing service helps arts entities connect their message directly with citizens in the community. Lakes Printing helps arts organizations convey the story of their vibrant work in their community, from concept to final product.

Kevin Thesing and his team has been an invaluable resource for The Crossing Arts Alliance and so many other arts organizations, willing to share his years of experience with nonprofit boards, marketing, and problem-solving to help them thrive. We credit Lakes Printing with having a tremendous impact on our growth and success and are grateful to have them in our community."

In response to receiving the award, Thesing stated, "Providing support and donating our resources and experience is something that began as a business philosophy and has grown into a way of life. It's just how we do business and we're proud to be there for a wide variety of clients when they need it the most."

This year's artist commissioned award was a hand blown studio art glass platter made by artist, Steven Weagel of Pequot Lakes.

The Five Wings Arts Council is one of 11 regional arts councils in Minnesota. Its mission is to

encourage and promote arts creation, appreciation, and education through grant programs and

technical assistance in order to enhance the quality of life for Minnesota residents in Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties.
