Advocate, politician, woman: A conversation with Quinn Nystrom

Quinn Nystrom

Quinn Nystrom grew up knocking on her neighbors' doors, asking for donations for Type 1 diabetes research after first her brother and later she was diagnosed with the chronic condition. She apparently liked door knocking so much, she did it again as a candidate for the Baxter City Council and once more as the DFL challenger to District 10A representative Josh Heintzeman.

As Nystrom prepares to leave her post on the city council to focus more on her advocacy work, she sat down the DispatchCast to share her passion for diabetes education, her experiences as a woman running for office and her hopes to get more young people involved in the political process.

This way, whenever we add a new episode, you'll know without having to search for it.

• For Android users, it's also available on Google Play Music. It should be the only listing under "Podcasts" you see when you search for it. Just as in the iTunes store, you can also subscribe to the podcast here or listen to individual episodes.

• Another popular podcast site is called Stitcher, providing radio shows, live radio and podcasts from more than 65,000 sources, according to the website. The Stitcher app is available on either Android or iOS operating systems, and can also be played directly on the web.

• Podcast Addict is a smartphone app drawing on the same feeds as those supplied to iTunes, so DispatchCast is also available here.
