One-woman play to be staged March 30 in Brainerd
Lakes Area Move to Amend will present a one-hour, one-woman play, "Jeannette Rankin: Champion of Persistence," at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd.
Rankin was the first woman elected to Congress from Montana in 1916. This play is in celebration of Women's History Month as Rankin played a pivotal, often overlooked role in American history. A progressive Republican, she fought for women's suffrage, economic justice and environmental protection.
A reception will be held at 6 p.m. Suggested donation is $10 per adult and $5 per student. Children 12 and under will be admitted free.
Lakes Area Move to Amend is the local chapter of a non-partisan national organization dedicated to preserving democracy.
