This year's Cass County Fair saw an increase in participation, with 53 4-H youth and three 4-H clubs exhibiting with a total of 458 entries. Out of those entries 33 of them advanced to Minnesota 4-H regional and state events.
WALKER — Cass County commissioners approved a preliminary tax levy increase of 5.06% above the 2022 levy at the Tuesday, Sept. 6, County Board meeting, which was lower than the department head-requested 6.97% increase.
Concerns relate to understanding of probation’s role by other departments
For every dollar from Cass County contributed the Initiative Foundation has invested $4.58 back into the county.
Activity is still above what Cass County saw in 2020.
About $240,000 in damage was caused to Cass County infrastructure from the June 20 and June 23-25 storms.

The Teunes’ farm is 1,700 acres. Over 50 years of farming, the two have raised sheep, quarter horses, pigs, dairy cattle and dairy heifers. From 1987-97, they operated a feed store from a building on the farm. As of now, they stock cows and finish their calves along with raising corn, beans and alfalfa.
The group is committed to maintaining the highest level of independence of older people by developing and coordinating community care, reducing isolation and improving access to services.
The challenge it seemed most departments reported was the recruitment and hiring of qualified candidates.
