APPLICANTS SOUGHT FOR
APPOINTMENT TO THE
POSITION OF MAYOR
CITY OF BRAINERD
The Brainerd City Council seeks candidates for the appointment to fill the upcoming Mayor position upon the resignation of Edwin Menk. Pursuant to Section 12 of the Brainerd City Charter, the City Council seeks candidates for appointment to fill the vacancy. The appointed Mayor shall serve through December 2020. The position shall appear on November 2020 ballot to fill out the term through December 31, 2022.
Applicants must meet the criteria of election eligibility as provided in the Brainerd City Charter and under the laws of the State of Minnesota. Applicants shall submit the application prior to March 18 at 4:30 p.m. accompanied with a resume which outlines the individual's history of work, public service, community involvement or other accomplishments which will assist the Council to make an informed decision.
Each applicant shall be interviewed by the City Council in a special meeting on March 23, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. It is expected that the City Council will officially act to appoint the position at the March 23, 2020, meeting for April 1, 2020, and the person will be officially sworn in at the April 6, 2020, City Council meeting.

The application shall be submitted to City Hall no later than 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2020 via email to sbestul@ci.brainerd.mn.us or personal delivery.
